New Mid Journey Features to Explore

Despite how many AI art generators we now have at our fingertips, Mid Journey has maintained its lead 👏

Here are a few things to check out:

👉Vary Region is a new feature that lets you re-generate and edit very specific segments of an image.

You can now add something, remove something, or perfect something by modifying the prompts for one region. For people who rely on Mid Journey for professional materials, this update has major implications!

Here’s a video tutorial on how to use it, and a written explanation on how to set it up.

👉Mid Journey has gotten really good at visualizing data and charts.

Here’s a prompt example we found from Superhuman:

An intricate chart with data points, 2D, investment and finance concept [or other concept], high detail, 8K --ar 4:3 --v 5.2

Use cases like these can jazz up your next presentation, boost your understanding of a concept, or even help a student with difficult math homework.

These examples from Reddit user kukoscode don’t feature any actual data, but they’re downright captivating:

👉Mid Journey rolled out an upgrade that speeds up image generation for Pro and Mega users by about 150%.

Any leftover capacity gets randomly distributed amongst other membership tiers! If you’re lucky, a few of your images will come through in just 30 seconds ⚡

Yes, Google’s Duet AI Can Make Images Too!

Google loyalists, you’re in luck: Google Workspace launched public testing of its image-generation technology in Google Slides. 

Powered by Imagen and a few other models, the highly-anticipated component of Duet AI will increase Google’s growing edge over Open AI.

If you’re one of the lucky users with early access…

🎨Look for the “Welcome to Workspace Labs” pop-up next time you start a new Slides.

🎨At the end of the Workspace toolbar, look for “Help me visualize” and the sparkle emoji in the top right corner.

🎨When you see the text field, simply write your prompt and select the art style.

Here’s an example of the interface, courtesy of 9to5Google:

For prompts, these can be simpler than Mid Journey, but Google says it can still handle specifics like “subject, setting, distance to subject, materials, or background.”

We recommend something like:

✍️ a happy family of four on a roller coaster on a sunny day with a small beachside city in the background

✍️ a futuristic car at night in a futuristic city with neon lights contrasting dark shadows

✍️ a simple bright green background made of leaves and trees

The benefit of this image generator is clear: you can create and utilize stunning images without having to leave your window.

The con, however, is also clear: Duet AI’s images likely won’t be as intricate as Mid Journey’s for quite some time.

In a perfect world, AI-generated artwork would only be used to boost businesses and inspire innovation.

Of course, we don’t live in that world, and AI-generated imagery is already contributing to growing misinformation concerns (shout-out to the Pope’s stylish streetwear puffer that he never actually wore).

Though no tried and true solution exists yet, Google is leading the charge to create an AI artwork identifier. They’re working on a ‘digital watermark’ to track the origin pixels in photos that can’t be noticed by the human eye.
