This week, we’re basking in this glorious vision of the future thanks to a major release from Canva, the user-friendly graphic design platform used by Fortune 500s and college students alike.

🎨Now, Canva has its very own AI image generator directly inside the platform 🎨

This week, we’re doing a deep dive into everything Canva to explore:

Let’s get into it!

Canva’s Free Online AI Image Generator

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, full-time mom, or content creator, you’re gonna wanna pay attention!

👉First, head over to your Canva account and start a new design – any type will do. If you don’t have a Canva account, you’re missing out on the world’s easiest graphic design tool, so you might as well make one now 😉

👉Next, look at the toolbar on the far left of your screen. At the bottom of the row of icons, you should see a purple square labeled ‘Text to Image.’ If it’s not there, hit ‘apps’ and search for ‘text to image.’ Once you open it, it’ll stay on your toolbar in the future.

👉Once you click the icon, a text box should come up to the left of your design.

👉Now comes the fun part: put your prompt skills to the test! Just like with Mid Journey and other image generators, the more specific you can get with your prompt, the better (although if you don’t like the technical jargon of Mid Journey, you’ll find Canva to be much easier).

👉Before you hit generate, be sure to browse the gallery to click your preferred art style.

👉After your images are generated, drag the one you want from the gallery over to your design. Drop it wherever you want it, and voila – your design now features custom AI artwork.

We entered “a very tired puppy sitting at a desk with a long to-do list in front of him” and chose Watercolor. Here’s what we got:

Is Canva’s AI artwork as sophisticated as Mid Journey’s? We’d say no. However, it’s much easier to edit your image to your liking in Canva with effects, filters, and lighting enhancements!

Plus, you can store these images in your usual Canva cloud account and invite others to collaborate on your design ✅

Price-wise, you can generate 50 images for free, or upgrade to a paid account to get up to 500 per year.

Generate Complete Designs with Magic Design

If you’re committed to Canva, there’s a lot more AI potential in the works 👀

Take Magic Design, a completely free beta tool that automatically generates complete customized designs on your behalf. This one is even easier than the artwork generator! Simply:

Fuse Copy and Design with Canva’s Magic Write

Canva loyalists, you’re in luck – there’s a third AI tool just waiting in the platform.

Meet Magic Write, an Open AI-powered tool that generates copy, blog outlines, lists, bio captions, content ideas, brainstorms, and more in just seconds.

Here’s how to start using it across your Canva designs:

✍️Head to the Magic Write web page and click ‘Try Magic Write’

✍️You’ll be directed to a blank design template – we recommend starting with a template from the bank on the left-hand side of your screen.

✍️Choose an area you’d like to add text to, and look for the plus sign in a circle that pops up when you start writing.

✍️Select ‘Magic Write,’ and write a prompt!

Pricing-wise, Magic Copy is similar to the art generator – 50 free uses, then up to 500 per year with a paid account.
