And just like that, ChatGPT got even smarter 🧠

AI’s ramping up at record speed. Are you ready?

Hey AI Puppies,

Remember last week when we laid out how to use ChatGPT at work?

Well, in the last 7 days, the AI pulled out even more stunning stops.

If you haven’t yet donned your AI training wheels, you might never learn how to ride that bike.

And yes – learning how to do so is a must. We hate to sound alarmist, but the future of your career depends on it.

Sick of hearing about how AI is coming for your job? If you embrace the change rather than run from it, you’ll be just fine, puppies.

This week, we’re diving into ChatGPT’s latest updates to…

✅ Clarify what’s new

✅ Showcase what’s possible

âś… Walk you through what to do next

The Latest ChatGPT Buzz

Two major capacities were released this week:

  1. the ChatGPT app for iPhone (with Android on the way)

  2. ChatGPT plugins

You have to hand it to ChatGPT’s developer OpenAI – they sure know how to write a sequel.

The app is a game-changer, especially for folks who don’t usually dive too deep into technology. Now, you don’t even have to open up a laptop to use the service. To no one’s surprise, the app surpassed half a mission downloads in under one week.

And guess what? The app is even easier to use than the website.

Sign-in takes 2 seconds, and you’re automatically directed to the message screen.

Now, the bigger update is #2: plug-ins.

Developers are freaking out, even comparing it to the launch of the iPhone App Store.

With ChatGPT plug-ins now set loose on the wild web, users can:

👉 Build ChatGPT plugins directly into their sites

👉 Have ChatGPT perform actions on the user’s behalf

👉 Ask ChatGPT to grab info from the web within specific applications

Puppies, this is only the beginning.

ChatGPT in the Real World

If all of this sounds like alphabet soup, let’s walk through real-world applications. We covered the messaging service last week [hyperlink to article], so we’ll leave it to you to get creative on mobile.

The plugin convo is where things get … spicy 🥵

As of now, the ChatGPT plugin web integration is only testing with a few select partners: Expedia, FiscalNote, Instacart, Kayak, Klarna, Milo, OpenTable, Shopify, Slack, Speak, Wolfram, and Zapier.

  1. From the plugin store, WolframAlpha, OpenTable, and Instacart were all installed into OpenAI.

  1. The user asked for a vegan recipe and vegan restaurant in San Francisco, complicated by asking for “just the ingredients” and the calorie count.

  1. ChatGPT then prepared an order for the ingredients on Instacart, provided calorie count for the recipe by portion size, and shared a promo message for free delivery. It also named a fitting vegan restaurant in the area and provided a link to make a reservation on OpenTable.

If you don’t see what a big deal this is, you need to get your eyes checked.

How to Leverage the Latest

There’s no denying it: soon – VERY soon – professionals from every industry will swarm to plugins.

Of course, those who figure it out first will reap the greatest benefits.

Currently, only ChatGPT-Plus users have access. Let’s run through a few ways this will speed up work:

⚡If you keep everything on Slack: use the Slack plugin to add a ChatGPT bot to your channel. When you tag it with a request, it’ll write the response directly into Slack. If you have ChatGPT-Plus, follow these steps.

⚡If you make charts or analyze data: use the Wolfram plugin to visualize data and create compelling charts. If you have ChatGPT-Plus, follow these steps.

⚡If you coordinate travel: use the Kayak or Expedia plugin to input your destination, create travel reservations, and generate itineraries. Kayak’s plugin is rolling out soon, and you can use Expedia’s directly from ChatGPT.

Your Next Assignment

If you decide to make the leap to ChatGPT-Plus, you’ll need to do some tinkering to get used to the plugins. Follow these 5 steps to get the lay of the land!

Once you have your suite of plugins ready to go, we recommend starting with baby steps. We are, after all, AI puppies going through training.

So, choose one task to offload this week via plugin (research, data analysis, ordering lunch for the boss, etc). Go ahead, it won’t hurt to try!

Then, repeat last week’s final step – comment, post, or @ us with your honest thoughts on the plugin you used.

That’s all for this week, puppies! As always, we’ll scour AI news for the latest trends to send your way. In the meantime, forward this to a friend who needs some AI training of their own.
