Polishing Your Public Image

As much as we wish job hunting was all about experience and skill, we live in a world where first impressions can make or break the hiring process.

And these days, the very first thing a recruiter often sees of you is your LinkedIn profile – specifically, your professional headshot 🖼️

Don’t have the time, resources, or glam shot skills to get a new one?

You know what we’re about to say…. There’s an AI for that.

Plenty of AIs can take an average photo of your face (truly any selfie or pic in your camera roll will do) and layer it into a professional portrait, but here’s a tutorial for the tactic floating around TikTok:

1. Download the app Remini onto your phone and sign up for the 3-day free trial (and set a reminder on your phone to cancel it!)

2. When you are ready to generate your picture, make sure you have ‘AI Photos’ icon highlighted, not the AI Avatars option

3. Next, the app will prompt you to upload at least 9 photos of your face – to get the best result, go for ones that clearly show your features without too much else going on in the pic!

4. After you tell the app if you’re going for a male or female image, you’ll then be asked to choose a model image you’d like to emulate. For a professional photo, scroll all the way down to the section labeled ‘Curriculum’ and choose whichever style you like!

5. Wait for the image to generate, and voila 🪄 you’ve got a professional headshot! If your result isn’t perfect, you have three days to tinker with the results for free.

And just like that, you’ve polished your LinkedIn presence 👏

Here’s a non-tech pro tip for you: try doing the brainstorming process for each question by hand! We know it’s not as easy as typing, but research shows that you’re more likely to remember notes written by hand ✍️
