The AI-savvy marketer: a day in the life ⚡
How one profession can be transformed for the better...
Hey AI Puppies,
You’re reading this newsletter because you know a few key things:
👉AI isn’t going anywhere, not at all
👉The sooner you upskill, the sooner you can take advantage of AI
👉With AI on your side, your productivity can skyrocket
But now what? You can sense change on the horizon, but what do you actually do with that knowledge?
To move the AI convo from something theoretical to something you can actually sink your teeth into (as true puppies do), this week, we’re walking through a real-life use case from an AI-savvy digital marketer.
Keep reading to learn how a modern marketer is scaling their own creativity with:
📚Perplexity AI for research
📰Claude for summarization
✍️ChatGPT for brainstorming
Even if you’re not a marketer yourself, keep reading to see exactly how AI secures success on a daily basis!

Seeking Sources with Perplexity AI
You can ask ChatGPT in-depth questions all day, but if contextualized research is part of your role, it doesn’t actually simulate the process of pulling articles you might need to source.
👀But Perplexity AI does 👀
Perplexity AI claims to ‘unlock the power of knowledge with information discovery and sharing.’ The interface is quite similar to Open AI, but the results are more like Google – with an extra layer of AI-generated analysis.
Here’s how our marketer kicks off the brainstorming process with Perplexity AI.
They first head to www.perplexity.ai
They then enter a prompt related to their latest project (it’s free to use!)
They read the results if they want to, but they mainly focus on the sourced articles up top
Here’s an example with the prompt “can you please pull me five social media trends from September 2023 related to dogs and dog ownership”...

See those articles up top? That just saved a whole lot of scrolling 👏
Underneath the response, you’ll see related queries:

Think of Perplexity as Google, but better!
Summarization with Claude
Once our digital marketer has information they want to summarize, they head over to Claude AI.
Claude AI is so similar to ChatGPT that Open AI enthusiasts might overlook it, but it can do things that ChatGPT can’t, such as:
✍️Read and analyze uploaded files
✍️Process more words at once
✍️Access and read web links (but not perfectly, so always double-check the results)
The interface is a bit sleeker, too! Our theoretical marketer prefers Claude, so here’s what they’ll do:
They’ll head to their Claude account (free for a few searches, then $20/month)
They’ll tell Claude exactly what they need to accomplish using their latest research
They’ll copy and paste the article they want to summarize (which then turns into a small file)
They liked this article from their Perplexity research, so they copy and pasted it into the chat with the prompt “I'm a social media strategist for a dog food brand. What are 3 takeaways from this article that I should be aware of as I come up with Instagram content this week?”...

If you have to research for your role, we don’t need to tell you twice – reading and summarizing articles the old-fashioned way can take forever.
Say you need to understand the key takeaways from a hefty report. We found this study online, and used it to craft this prompt:
“I'm a social media strategist for a dog food brand and we need to post more Instagram stories related to the health of golden retrievers. From a dog food marketer's perspective, what are the five most important takeaways from this report”
The results were:

This is an absolute game changer, puppies. You’re welcome in advance!
Brainstorming with ChatGPT
After some amazing summarization, courtesy of Claude, our marketer then pivots to ChatGPT for the final touch: brainstorming!
You already know how to use ChatGPT by now, so here’s the prompt we entered along with the copy and pasted Claude results:
“I am a social media strategist for a dog food brand and I need to come up with Instagram stories related to the research takeaways copied below. Can you give me 10 ideas for creative dog food Instagram story posts that feature the takeaways? They'll be posted in October, so it would be great to see some Halloween-related mixed in as well”
Here are the results:

Yep – it’s that easy, puppies.
Some (Puppy) Food For Thought
You might be wondering, is the digital marketer uncomfortable using AI to do their job for them?
The answer is no, because…
AI isn’t doing their job for them. They’re the human with the ability to discern what results are worth pursuing and which ones are nonsense – AI, in this scenario, is doing what it does best: speeding up the workday to make room for even more creativity.
With these research-backed ideas, the marketer has the inspiration they need to come up with original content that fits their unique brand.
If you’re wondering how worried our digital marketer is about ‘losing their job to AI,’ think about it this way…
Ask any digital marketer you know about their workload, and they’ll tell you they’re drowning in to-dos.
Time is a precious and limited resource – just imagine living in a world where you have more of it 🎉
